Day One Chemo TOP 10 by Shelley with my responses
My sister wrote and sent these Monday for my first day of treatment. She's a talented writer and poet in case you didn't know :-) I wrote some not as witty responses back during treatment; those are in blue. Bonus cartoon at the end.
Top Ten Reasons Day One of Chemo is a GOOD THING:
10) You get to spend three hours sitting in one place with people waiting on you
This is absolutely true! People were so nice, and not just Mom and Will!
9) You can be sober and leave your shirt unbuttoned and no one will say anything
In my case unzipped. That maternity sweater I bought for the cool zippers and long length is going to be my life saver lol
8) You are putting chemicals into your body and this time it's a good thing
Overall a good thing!
7) You love science and now you are the experiment
Totally. And I get to benefit from years of science! PS. Congress, please don't cut funding for the NIH!!
6) You get to kill things without lifting a finger and it's legal (those bad cells)
And the good cells! Murder of self...
5) You get a fancy bracelet to take home for free
No bracelet! Thank god.
4) You can tell someone "just stick it there" and they cannot get offended
And the port was so nice; it barely hurt.
3) Millions of women now have your back (really your breasts?)
Back. My breast(s) are either going to science or the trash ;-)
2) You can get the experience of IV drugs legally (check that off your want to try but not allowed bucket list).
Hmmm not sure that was on my list lol
1) We can hope even Donald Trump won't say something bad about a woman experiencing chemo treatments. (Because really is "grabbing you by the pussy" a medical treatment and anyway it's your boobs.)
Because...cancer!
Which made me think of this XKCD cartoon that a friend brought up the other night (hilariously!)
