Rituals...
It's similar for running a race or preparing for a fight, playing in a concert, giving a big work presentation, spiritual ceremonies, or preparing for chemo. After a time we all establish and/or have a prescribed ritual before hand. I have both prescribed and created on my own by round three.
First, hydrate like crazy the 24-48 hours before.
Second, eat healthy and lots of protein.
Third, take prescribed steroids and Claritin.
Fourth, be super productive (see number three).
Fifth, drink tea out of inspiring mug, a gift from Jen, and I love it.
Next, choose my temporary tattoo and put in place (consciousink.com if you're wondering).
Then, put on fun socks. Today's courtesy of Emily Martin.
Finally, bring fruit; Mom picks me up and provides support, turkey sandwiches, nursing know how and today notes since I was so doped up I ran into a wall. More on that later.
It helps me mentally prepare, and I'm lucky to have the time and resources to do so. So, when I get into the medical office and then the corral, I'm as zen, optimistic, and ready as possible. It also helps that I know I have so many supporters and cheerleaders- I think of you all often and appreciate it more than you know!
So here's to another one down, and one to go
